Long calls for Paul Ryan, Cardinal Dolan, others to rally for Court and Constitution against the Clinton-Schumer “Catholic Spring”

New York, NY — Wendy Long, U.S. Senate nominee of the Republican and Conservative parties in New York, today made the following statement:

“Chuck Schumer says his #1 goal is a ‘progressive’ Supreme Court. That’s one appointment away, and the next President will likely have 2, and maybe 3 additional appointments. If Hillary and Chuck are in charge, you can say goodbye to the Constitution we have known for 229 years.

“On Friday, we got a glimpse of what a Schumer Supreme Court would look like, in a chilling opinion by the most-reversed federal appeals court, the Ninth Circuit. And the Schumer future isn’t pretty.

“The Ninth Circuit upheld a California law that requires pro-life pregnancy centers to dispense information about how and where to procure an abortion. Forcing citizens to engage in speech and behavior that is abhorrent to their consciences is not supposed to happen in America. But this ruling requires sincere opponents of abortion to direct pregnant women where they can get an abortion. The Supreme Court has long held that the First Amendment prohibits such compelled speech, which is the essence of totalitarian regimes.

“But the soi-disant ‘progressive’ agenda that finds its home in the Ninth Circuit doesn’t end there. If Chuck Schumer becomes Majority Leader, and his friend Hillary Clinton becomes President, America will have a Supreme Court that will shut down religious liberty, restrict free speech on college campuses, and write the Second Amendment out of the Constitution.

“The Clinton campaign staff plotting a ‘Catholic Spring’ clearly plans transforming the Supreme Court as part of its radical agenda. Schumer’s plans clearly dovetail with Hillary’s.

“The Ninth Circuit opinion is just a preview of what is at stake in this election. It is far more fundamental than the distractions with which the mainstream media is attempting to divert focus. Sunday’s Washington Post poll, where Hillary Clinton’s 4 point lead was within the margin of error, shows that the election, at all levels, is not over. In the next four years, we can expect at least 3, and maybe 4, Supreme Court appointments.

“The window is closing in three weeks, for those who would protect religious liberty, freedom of speech, and the fundamental God-given rights that our Constitution recognized. Republicans like Paul Ryan and prelates like Cardinal Dolan still have a chance to help elect Donald Trump and to defeat Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer’s plans for the Supreme Court. If they fail to fight, no matter what their excuse, they can whine when our rights are gone later … but that will be all they can do then. Whine.”
