Wendy Long, who is challenging Sen. Chuck Schumer for his Senate seat, jested Wednesday that coughing is a sign of lying, referring to Hillary Clinton’s widely publicized coughing fit earlier this week.
“I have been noticing lately the different effects that lying can have on different people,” Long said at the Conservative Party of New York convention, where Donald Trump also spoke.
“For some we know that their noses grow like Pinocchio. Others sweat profusely. And others just start coughing uncontrollably, but I don’t hear any coughing here in this room, and that means two things: one, nobody here is a liar, and number two, nobody here is allergic to Donald Trump,” she said.

Clinton erupted in a coughing fit shortly after taking the stage at a campaign rally in Cleveland Monday, fueling conspiracy theories about her health.

“Every time I think about Trump I get allergic,” she said as she continued to cough while trying to thank the event organizers.
